Stuff & Things

The whole area was transformed into a Jungle soundscape of howler monkeys, chattering curacaos and stampeding elephants! We particularly enjoyed the changes of soundscape as the day progressed into evening, and the surround sound effect and depth of sound was amazing! We were completely immersed!

JUNGLE

Stuff & Things invite you and your ears for an audio-adventure to where the wild things are. Inspired by their travels through the jungles of Central America in the winter of 2010/11, Nick and Paul created Jungle as an artwork with many possibilities. Jungle can be used as a juxtapositional piece, where installing the soundscape within an urban environment highlights the contrast between the man-made and the natural, and playfully explores the relationships between the worlds of the human and the animal. When placed in a more sympathetic ‘natural’ setting, Jungle’s evocative soundscape creates additional layers of experience, blurring the lines between the real and unreal whilst bringing the sensation of a tropical jungle to green spaces. By setting the extraordinary within the ordinary, Stuff and Things aim to create work which offers audiences an opportunity to engage with their own imaginations and take a sideways look at the everyday. All installations are battery powered and utilise non-invasive fastenings throughout, and performance schedules can be tailored to suit location or event. For more information, please contact us.
