Walkabout Mime Show With Soundtrack

Edmond accidentally finds himself trapped in a perpendicular world of absurdity, where the bizarre is always close on his heels. Amidst a reality of swarming angry bees, spaghetti western gun fights, alarm bells, improbably large monsters, ringing telephones, crashing glass, low flying helicopters, packs of hunting hounds, squeaky prams etc etc…. he attempts to keep his composure.

The show uses only a remotely controlled amplified suitcase, to combine music sound effects and mime, into an improvisational high energy comedy performance. Edmonds environment provides his props, and his audiences supply his stooges, within his self absorbed world of misfortune and adventure. The show mischievously plays with cultural and social conventions and etiquette, whilst it also uses soundscape illusions to deceive its audiences – making for an exceptionally personal, emotional
and engaging performance.

This is a unique walkabout show that combines music, sound effects and mime into a very rich comic tapestry where anything can happen. Each show is written for and tailored to each venue in advance, and due to the vast and ever growing library of sound effects, it is adaptable to almost any situation or environment. Poor weather is not a problem either as Edmond has an entire arsenal of appropriate sound effects to use with or without his umbrella. The suitcase is remotely controlled to make it a highly improvisational show that can easily adapt itself to suit its environment and audience.

Often described as one of the best walkabouts on the circuit, this is a very successful show that always receives much praise and appreciation. Bookings as of 2007 have taken Edmond to England, N. Ireland, Wales, Scotland, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Austria, France, all types of festivals and events, department stores, station platforms, dinners, escalators, shopping centres, galleries, portaloos, bridges, and hedges.

A typical performance covers a huge repertoire of improvisations, from the subtle to the outlandish. Since the show is so mobile, and because Edmond can become invisible within a crowd at the touch of a button, the show has two basic elements – either ‘Surprise’ or ‘Scenario’.

SURPRISE : Edmond can blend into his environment and then use sound effects and mime to create genuine anticipation. This might be as simple as a helicopter flying overhead, or a dog growling. Whilst a crowd are amused at being fooled into thinking a helicopter is about to land on them, they are equally amused to be in on the joke with the next crowd to be fooled. It is from this expectation and realisation, that genuine reactions and emotions can be enjoyed by the audience.

SCENARIO :  Edmond’s second mode is in scene setting scenarios. This is achieved with the collage of sound effects and or musical accompaniment. His most well known of these is within his spaghetti western standoffs. The classical image of a lone stranger standing at the end of a long street or alleyway, combined with haunting music is used to build an atmosphere of extreme anticipation, which is then destroyed in an instant.

The nature of this show means that it is very difficult to capture on film, and consequently the photographs and video here are a simple indication of what can be expected – from intimate moments excessively slurping coffee in a bar, to 200 people waiting for a pin to drop !

Normal show running time is 30 minutes, and 3 shows a day.
